Biometrics for internal use only, yet still working with certain elements present on the skin.
North Wales High School Emrys ap Iwan commissioned local security and IT specialist Spider Technologies to research a replacement solution for their exhausted swipe card system. After extensive investigation Spider Technologies recommended none other than the robust ievo ultimate fingerprint reader.
Specialising in ICT and Electrotechnical Services, Spider Technologies has been providing PAT Testing, Bespoke Software and Digital Signage installation alongside access control management since 2005. Driven by a strong technical background, Spider Technologies quickly became a registered Paxton installer in order to provide easy to use yet performance driven security solutions.
Allam Marine has chosen biometric fingerprint readers to control the buildings access. This high profile installation reflects the high quality and high reliability products, perfect for within offices
The install involved a boon edam circlelock entrance. This allowed for standard access along with secondary opening actions from dedicated readers elsewhere in the building. One of the main benefits of the system is the ability to “latch” open the circle lock in the event of corporate open days, together with full biometric accountability.”
With a focus on keeping costs low, but maintaining a high spec gym, the fitness chain has invested in fingerprint biometrics to improve security and provide 24/7 gym access.
The new system improved the access control in terms of ease of use and quickness for members, it eliminated the need for cards and also provided a more secure access system than tokens or PIN.
Based in Manchester the Kids Allowed childcare centre provides specialist day care services to hundreds of children. Taking childcare to a new level, they pride themselves in offering the very best services by listening to parents. This includes making sure the kids are protected to the highest standard.
ACC Security Solutions provided the installation at this high profile site. Based in Stockport, Cheshire they are a steadfast and reliable company dedicated to the design, installation, service and maintenance of high quality, physical and electronic security systems. Having been a registered Paxton installer for 15 years they also successfully hold the Paxton Gold installer merit for 7 years. ACC is “ranked at 8th in the UK amongst security installers.”
Based on a site in the heart of Newcastle Upon Tyne directly opposite St James Park Football Stadium and the Newcastle University Business Centre is a modern district being constructed by George Downing Construction Ltd. The Contruction site is part of a number of projects within the city centre including the new bioscience buildings.
Downing operates across three successful divisions mixed-use development, property management and contruction. This unique approach arms them with the breadth of experience and skill to maximise value, quality and use of space where others would fall short.
Based on a site in Middlesbrough, The Beverley Tollesby School is a modern district school being constructed by Willmot Dixon for children with autistic and behavioural needs. The school is part of the government's schools for the future programme or SF1 as it is commonly known.
Willmot Dixon employs over 2500 people and is a major contractor in the UK. In January 2010 Willmot Dixon decided to specify a new biometric turnstile access control system to join existing CCTV and manned guard security on site. Willmot Dixon wanted to use a biometric system because of previous problems with proximity card and pin code systems which can easily be lost, stolen or corrupted.
Based on a site in Blaydon Tyne & Wear, the Datasafe Storage Facility is an established data storage unit which stores document and digital information. Datasafe has one single objective; to provide a professional and trusted solution to offsite data storage. Since that time they have become a market leader in the collection, retrieval, management and destruction of hardcopy and magnetic media in the UK.
Technical Support Manager of CAS said 'using the ievo biometric system on the storage facility means the staff no longer need to carry around costly proximity cards or remember pin codes. Staff at the site are happy at how easy the ievo system was to use and it also gave them peace of mind knowing that security in building was constantly monitored.
We helped the Datasafe I.T Dept link the Ievo and Net 2 system into their network and now those with access rights can view and operate the system from anywhere in the world via a secure web connection. Both the I.T Dept and the owners were really pleased with this option.
Access control solutions are continuously evolving and Biometric readers are no exception. Using fingerprint technology vastly improves door entry security and nullifies the risk of cards being passed to to third parties. Frequently however in the past Biometrics have been unreliable and slow.
iEVO though have a team of people that have developed a product that addresses many of the problems that have plagued fingerprint readers in the past. With the added benefit of the ability to integrate into Paxton access controllers the partnership makes for a successful formula. Good design
The iEVO is an IP device and is minimalistic in design. It is user friendly and vandal resistant. Designed to be used both internally and externally it is IP65 rated and can be flush or surface mounted.
Well by using a technology called Multi spectral imaging the reader is able to obtain fingerprints through dust, dirt water and oils. An impressive demonstration of the unit also proved it could actually see through light latex gloves as well.
The ergonomics of the unit mean that it fits in well into building design making it a favorite with architects . It also has a thermostat heated sensor when being used externally and includes wiegand outputs for interfacing and is networkable.
It seems the iEVO team have pretty much though of everything here, you can even buy the units in different colours. If you have used this biometric solution please let us have your feedback . However having been demonstrated this unit we would recommend you take iEVO biometric readers into consideration to help increase security for your door entry systems.
